Continuing Medical Education (CME) is essential for physicians to maintain licensure and stay updated with medical advancements. Vermont has specific CME requirements for MD and DO physicians to ensure they provide the highest quality care. Understanding these requirements is crucial for compliance and professional development.

Vermont CME Requirements for MD and DO Physicians:

  • Total CME Credits: Physicians must complete 30 hours of CME every 2 years.
  • Category 1 Credits: All 30 hours must be AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
  • Hospice, Palliative Care, or Pain Management Services: At least 1 hour must be on hospice, palliative care, or pain management services.
  • Safe and Effective Prescribing of Controlled Substances: For each licensee who holds a DEA number, at least 2 CME hours must be on safe and effective prescribing of controlled substances and pain management.

Fulfilling these requirements ensures that Vermont MD and DO physicians remain current in their medical practice and provide the best care to their patients.
