Kentucky CME Requirements for MD and DO Physicians:

  • Total CME Credits Required: Physicians must complete 60 hours of CME every 3 years.
  • Category 1 Credits: Of the 60 hours, at least 30 must be in Category 1.
  • Special Requirements: Primary care physicians must complete a one-time course on domestic violence.
  • HIV/AIDS Education: A minimum of 2 hours of HIV/AIDS education is required once every 10 years.
  • KASPER, Pain Management, or Addiction Disorders: For each 3-year cycle, licensees authorized to prescribe or dispense controlled substances must complete at least 4.5 hours of approved continuing education in KASPER, pain management, addiction disorders, or a combination of these subjects.
