In Hawaii, both MD and DO physicians are required to meet specific CME requirements to maintain their licensure. Understanding and keeping track of these requirements is essential for continued practice in the state.

Hawaii CME Requirements for MD and DO Physicians:

  • Total CME Credits Required: 40 hours every 2 years
  • Type of Credits: All must be AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ or AOA Category 1-A
  • Initial License Period: If the initial license was received between February 1, 2016, and January 31, 2017, only 20 Category 1 or 1A CME hours are required for the initial renewal.
