At CME Trail, we've consolidated all the necessary information to streamline your CME planning, freeing up your time for patient care. For further details on state CME requirements, please visit the official Federation of State Medical Board documentation

Georgia CME Requirements Overview:

For MD and DO physicians in Georgia, here's what you need to know to stay compliant:

  • Total CME Credits Needed: 40 hours every two years
  • Category 1 Credits: At least 25% of the total hours must be Category 1
  • Opioid Prescribing Education: If you have DEA registration and prescribe controlled substances, you're required to complete 3 hours of Category 1 CME on responsible opioid prescribing before your next renewal
  • Sexual Misconduct and Implicit Bias Training: Starting January 1, 2022, a one-time education of at least 2 hours on sexual misconduct, sexual boundaries, and the impacts of implicit bias is mandatory
  • Special Requirement for Non-Pain Management Specialists: Physicians who are not certified in pain management or palliative medicine, but have a patient population where 50% or more are receiving opioid pain management, must complete 20 CME hours related to pain management or palliative medicine biennially
